You may have known for months—or even years—that your loved one's organ(s) are failing. Or maybe it’s happened suddenly and without warning. Either way, when the moment comes that they say "transplant", it can leave you feeling panicked, unprepared, and unsure of what to do next.
The transplant journey is full of decisions, medical language, learning, evaluation and waiting—it can feel like too much all at once.
You don’t have to figure it out alone. Let me help you take a breath, find your footing, and start moving forward with guidance and support.

Can your program help with any solid organ transplant, including heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas, intestine, stomach, hand, uterine, or even multivisceral patients?
Yes. My program supports caregivers of all solid organ transplant patients. Whether your loved one is waiting for a heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas, intestine, stomach, hand, uterine, or even a multivisceral transplant, the challenges you face as a caregiver are real and often overwhelming.
While every organ type has its own unique medical journey, the caregiver experience is universal—fear, uncertainty, endless appointments, and the weight of responsibility. My program helps you prepare, find clarity, and gain the support of others walking the same path, so you don’t have to go through it alone.
Is this a guarantee that my loved one will be approved for transplant listing?
“While I cannot promise that your loved one will be approved for transplant listing—especially right away—I can help you understand what the team expects and guide you in preparing with greater confidence. My goal is to ensure you feel educated, supported, and equipped with a strong foundation to move forward in the transplant process and journey.”
Are other people/caregivers as afraid or overwhelmed as I am?
Every caregiver comes with their own unique blend of life experiences, fears, questions, and support systems. But more often than not, you’ll discover you have more in common than you don’t.
That’s why this program includes group sessions led by Annette Humberson, MSW. In these sessions, you’ll receive:
Expert guidance from someone who has walked alongside transplant caregivers for decades.
Connection with other caregivers who are facing the same uncertainties you are.
A safe place to share, listen, and learn together—so no one feels alone on this journey.
👉 You’ll leave each session not only with tools, insights, and information completed in your workbook, but also with the comfort of knowing you’re part of a community that truly understands.

Everything changed... that Wednesday afternoon. Call from my sister.... Mom's blood work is all off.... we don't know why yet. Mom doesn't want us to worry but she has a Dr's appointment next week... I had my RN friend look at it, she's worried... How can this be happening? My Mom is the healthiest person I know. (In between sobs now) "It can't be Mom"...
My passion for transplant began when I was just 20 years old. My mother’s best friend needed a liver transplant. We worried, we asked questions tried to remain hopeful, tried to support - all that family friends carry during a life-changing experience. That early connection set my path in motion, and I had been committed to supporting transplant caregivers and patients ever since then... But then it was my Mom who got sick - I became a caregiver to someone I dearly loved and I was scared... so scared. You can't explain that, you FEEL it, the deepest dread there can be.
For 15 years, I was part of the transplant team at the Cleveland Clinic, one of the nation’s leading transplant centers, and the last 5 years at the Transplant House of Cleveland, a Transplant Hospitality House for transplant patients and caregivers from all over the US and around the world. During that time, I walked alongside countless patients and families as they faced the unique challenges of the transplant journey but when it's someone you love dearly, everything changes. But something was missing, the personal touch - time for the questions, and the deepest fears, who to talk to? Who would understand? Medicine is not just test results and appointments. How do we live while this is happening? What should I worry about? I felt like a fish out of water, gasping for air - gasping for support and answers.
